100_1982 The country of Belize has some of the richest and most diverse wildlife that the world has ever seen.  Why is this possible?  It is due to the fact that there are so few people who live in Belize and there is little industry.  Much of the land of Belize is untouched.  The people who inhabit this country are proud of the wildlife that lives here and will do anything to try to protect it.  Even though Belize is small, it still has a wide variety of plant and animal life.

belize bruno 005 Belize is one of the countries in Central America America. Located between Guatemala and Mexico, Belize is bordered by the second longest barrier reef in the world, with the Great Barrier Reef in Australia as the longest. The reef off the coast of Belize is the home of the famous “Blue Hole”, three of the four pristine atolls in the Atlantic and over 200 white sand islands. Belize is the only Central American country that does not have a pacific coastline.

Belize’s geographical features are divided by two distinctive physiographic areas. The most visually breathtaking of these areas is the majestic Maya Mountains and the connected plateaus and basins. They overlook all but the slim coastal plain in the southern half of the country. The Maya Mountains is about 1100 meters high and the highest point is Victoria Peak, which towers at 1120 meters. The Maya Mountains run from Belize into Guatemala, and are a major destination for eco-travelers and conservationists alike.

The second area includes the lowlands in the northern and the coastal plain of southern part of Belize. These lowlands elevate to not more than 100 meters above sea level. There are eighteen main rivers and many recurrent streams draining these low-leveled areas. The coastline is flat and marshy, with countless lagoons, mainly in the northern and central part of Belize. The topography changes from mangrove marsh to tropical pine savannah and hardwood jungle. The jungles in the northern plains are mainly broadleaf deciduous jungles.

The crossed networks of rivers, creeks, and lagoons have played an important main function in the historical physical attributes of Belize. The largest river in Belize is the Belize River, which is the main source of water in more than one-quarter of the country. It is the most historically important river in Belize and it flows along the northern border of the Maya Mountains across the middle of Belize to the sea near Belize City.

It has now become a greatly sought after location for retirees, people looking for an exotic holiday home and even as an investment in property.

There are a few facts that you need to keep in mind before you invest in property in Belize. You are quite likely to make a bad deal or pay much more if you are not aware of these facts before you buy. This article contains five of the most important things that you need to know before you buy property in Belize and you should consider them carefully before making an investment in Belize.

    * There are two different rates for every transaction in Belize. One is the lower price for locals and the other the higher price for foreigners. Most people will consider you to have more money than sense in Belize and will treat you accordingly unless you are a local. There is no need to be offended at this, but you need to keep it into consideration whenever you negotiate deals.

    * You also need to keep in mind that there are severe hurricane problems in Belize and that Belize often is inundated by coastal flooding. So if you are told that your property is in a hurricane free locality, you should tale that with a pinch of salt. You need to keep in mind that your property could very well be damaged by a hurricane and negotiate prices accordingly and budget for insurance as well.
